- Q. Can I commission a custom sculpture?
- A. Yes. You can! You will need contact Deana and discuss the piece with her. She can tell you if and when the piece can be done.
- Q. How long does it take Deana to create a sculpture?
- A. It can take anywhere from 2 hours to a day depending on size and detail of the character.
- Q. What are the sculptures made of?
- A. 100 % colored clay. Deana prefers the use of Super Sculpey and Sculpey III products but sometimes she uses Premo. She will also add metal pieces like chain and pins to some characters to help with the authenticity of the character.
- Q. Where are these sculptures displayed?
- A. Right now the sculptures are displayed on this web site and a few shows in the NY, NJ and Pa area. Keep your eyes here for updates as to where Deana and the Replicants will be appearing. I also believe that their are some other fan sites that may contain the Replicants and I am sure we will be linking to those sites soon.
- Q. Why was the name Little Replicants chosen for this line of sculptures?
- A. The teddy bears are supposed to replicate famous characters from movies, TV and comic books. They usually range in the 3 to 5 inch size so they are considered little hence the name Little Replicants.
- Q. Where did the idea for the Little Replicants come from?
- A. Deana use to sculpt model kits but when she realized that many fans no longer build and paint due to busy schedules she decided to do one of a kind sculptures in colored clay. The actual first Little Replicant piece was a joke piece. Deana sculpted Pinhead as a colored clay teddy bear. Friends thought the piece was adorable and the Replicants were born.
- Q. Where did Deana learn to sculpt?
- A. Deana is self taught. She did not go to art school but she has learned many things from fellow sculptors such as John Dennett, Shawn Nagle, Mike Parks, Al Rebioro and Daniel Horne. She has gotten tips from other talented artists as well - too numerous to name but they know who they are.
- Q. How much do the custom Little Replicants cost?
- A. Pricing is relative to the details of each piece. It varies due to time, material and details. Please e-mail Deana with requests and to discuss any prices.
